Staphychrom IIIdentification of Staphylococcus Aureus from isolated colonies. The STAPHYCHROM II test is designed to quickly and easily differentiate isolated colonies of Staphylococcus Aureus from other staphylococci species. Multi-drug resistance poses considerable therapeutic problems, especially with staphylococci resistant to methicillin. Therefore, the rapid differentiation of Staphylococcus Aureus from other species of staphylococci is imperative to microbiological diagnosis. STAPHYCHROM II not only allows for rapid detection of S. aureus, results within 1-2 hours, but also requires only 1 minute of handling time. STAPHYCHROM II provides exceptionally reliable S.aureus identification. Sensitivity: 99.3% Specificity: 100%
STAPHYCROM II is FASTER and MORE SPECIFIC than the reference tube coagulase test and is MORE SENSITIVE and SPECIFIC than the latex agglutination test. How it worksThe STAPHYCHROM II test is based upon the detection of the characteristic S. aureus staphylocoagulase enzyme with the aid of prothrombin and a synthetic chromogenic substrate specific for the enzyme. The release of a paranitroaniline group leads to a fast colorimetric result. After 1 to 2 hours of incubation at 37°C, the appearance of a yellow coloration reveals the presence of S.aureus. All results are read visually and no instrument is required. Staphychrom II Instructions For Use To view these documents you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can get it by clicking here.
